A plan that’s right
for you !
Solidarité Jeunesse is a program managed by the Pontiac Youth Employment
Marketplace. This program is an opportunity for young people between the
ages of 18 to 21 who apply and are eligible for employment assistance
(welfare), to rethink their future. With the help of the Centre local
d’emploi (CLE), Pontiac Youth Employment Marketplace, and in collaboration
with youth organizations, the program offers young adults the opportunity to
take part in training activities, return to school and / or find a job. The
province of Québec believes in its youths’ potential and the province wants
to do more than simply hand out employment assistance.
Solidarité Jeunesse can help them discover
opportunities suited to their current situation and needs.
- * It is an alternative to employment assistance
(welfare).
- * It is more than financial assistance, tools to join
the labour market.
- * It is for a period of up to three months, they will
take part in activities that will help them find their place in society.
- This will be an occasion for them to:
- Analyze their strengths and weaknesses;
- Take stock of their educational and employment
achievements;
- Consider what type of job would suit them best;
- Map out their path to independence and set their
conditions for success.
-
Youth Employment Marketplace provides
them with support, advice and motivation for up to one year after their
participation is over.
-
In exchange for their participation,
they will receive an amount that is equivalent to what they would receive
on employment assistance (welfare).
Through Solidarité Jeunesse, employers can
give these young people the opportunity to acquire hands-on work experience
and to develop their skills through training. Youth organizations can offer
help and support as these young people strive to achieve their career goals.
